Text-mined interactions from Literome
Cifone et al., Blood 1999
:
Caspase activity plays a crucial role in Dex induced apoptosis and is downstream the
aSMase activation in that inhibition of the early ceramide generation
inhibits caspase activation and thymocyte death
Sawada et al., Exp Cell Res 2002
(Glioma) :
Acid sphingomyelinase activation
requires caspase-8 but not p53 nor reactive oxygen species during Fas induced apoptosis in human glioma cells
Barsacchi et al., Cell Death Differ 2002
:
We found that activation of both acid and neutral sphingomyelinases, triggered in the first minutes after U937 cell stimulation with TNF-alpha, is regulated in an inhibitory fashion by nitric oxide, working through generation of cyclic GMP and activation of protein kinase G. Using a range of inhibitors selective for either sphingomyelinase we found that the
acid sphingomyelinase contributes to activation of the initiator
caspase-8 and early DNA fragmentation and that inhibition of the acid enzyme by nitric oxide accounts for cyclic GMP dependent early protection from apoptosis
Buratta et al., J Neurochem 2008
(Brain Neoplasms...) :
Released cyt c and
caspase 3 activity were not
affected by neutral and
acid sphingomyelinase inhibitors and by the inhibitor of serine palmitoyltransferase cycloserine, indicating that apoptosis was independent of the ceramide pathway, nor the mitochondrial pro-apoptotic AIF or Bcl-2/Bax factors appeared to be involved in the effect
